The newly-regenerated Doctor promises to take his travelling companion, Rose, 'further than we've ever gone before'.  Together they visit New Earth - a planet colonised by nostalgic humans after the destruction of their original home - in the year five billion and twenty-three.  Across the bay from 'New' New York lies a state of the art hospital run by highly-evolved cat-women known as the Sisters of Plenitude.  Remarkably, the treatments provided by the sisterhood can cure all known diseases.  But the Face of Boe, the Doctor's acquaintance from 'The End of the World' and now a patient at the hospital, is dying of old age: 'one thing we can't cure', remarks kindly Novice Hame.  Separated from the Doctor, Rose encounters an old adversary, hidden in the depths of the hospital.  Lady Cassandra, having spied 'that dirty blonde assassin', determines to enact her revenge.  Using a 'psycho-graft', operated by her faithful servant, Chip, Cassandra claims Rose's body as her own - 'it's goodbye trampoline and hello blondie!'

Notes
Having provided the voice for Lady Cassandra in an earlier episode of Doctor Who entitled 'The End of the World', Zoe reprises her role in 'New Earth', this time also appearing in person.

Zoë discusses playing Cassandra, the 'naughty' Doctor Who baddie, in an interview published in issue #369 (24th May 2006) of Doctor Who Magazine.
