| This epic
television adaptation of Anthony Powell's masterpiece is set
against a backdrop of twentieth-century art, politics and social
change. Kenneth Widmerpool confounds his detractors by
rising to power; the lives and relationships of those within his
circle are then chronicled by Nicholas Jenkins. Although
in financial difficulty, Audrey Maclintick (played by Zoe) longs
to live the high life and blames her lack of success in life on
her long-suffering husband, with whom she has little in
common. His reluctance to go along with her schemes is a
constant source of irritation for Audrey. Is she too
ambitious for her own good? |
