Production |
| Viola and her twin
brother, Sebastian, have been shipwrecked off the coast of
Illyria, and each believes the other to have drowned. Once
ashore, and with the help of a sea captain, Viola disguises
herself as a boy and assumes the name Cesario, entering the
service of the Duke of Orsino. The Duke sends 'Cesario' to
woo Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia falls in love with the
servant. Meanwhile, Antonio has come to the aid of Viola's
brother, whom Olivia mistakes for Cesario. She and
Sebastian are then secretly married, much to the latter's
bemusement! As true identities are revealed, Orsino
realises he loves Viola. A comedy of mistaken identity. |

Notes |
| About a decade
before this version of Shakespeare's comedy, Zoë had previously
played Viola in a touring production of
Twelfth Night. The 1974 production was one of her
first professional roles after leaving drama school. |
Her performance in this production earned Zoe an Olivier award
nomination. |
