| Prevented from
realising his ambitions, Tom Wingfield is eager to escape the
clutches of his mother, Amanda, and seek his independence.
By contrast, his sister Laura is timid and withdrawn, struggling
under the weight of Amanda's grand designs upon her
future. After the arrival of a gentleman caller, Jim, the
family's ties prove to be as fragile as the girl's menagerie of
glass animals. |
