| Wilde is a
biographical account of one of Britain's most celebrated minds,
Oscar Wilde. A family man whose phenomenal talents bring
him great success as a writer, playwright and poet, Wilde
privately struggles with homosexual feelings. Once the
toast of late-Victorian society, when Wilde's true sexuality is revealed,
his reputation lies in tatters. After he is sentenced to hard
labour for his supposed 'crimes', many turn their backs on Wilde
and his family. Upon his release, the genius comes to rely
on the more open-minded among his circle. Ada 'Sphinx'
Leverson (played by Zoe) is one of the few to stand by him
during this difficult period. |
